Introducing Mr. and Mrs. Adkins
Mike and I knew that we loved each other before we met for our first date. We had spent many hours talking, texting and emailing before that first date. In October Mike got down on one knee and proposed. Of course I said yes!
We had planned a January wedding in Florida on the banks of the St. John's River at sunset but a mishap changed all that. So we decided to go ahead and get married at home and then eventually we will renew our vows in Florida with friends and family in attendance.
I picked up some of our favorite champagne and got it on ice. Since this was not truly planned we didn't have the toasting flutes I wanted but instead used these lovely ones my daughter bought me over in Europe.
Our next door neighbor just happens to be the pastor of our church and he agreed to perform the ceremony. We gathered in front of the fire place. During the first prayer Kelekona came and sat between Mike and I as if to say "no one better object to this wedding!". She laid down after a bit but stayed between us for the whole ceremony.
Randy read scripture.
We exchanged vows.
Randy took our rings and talked about the love that comes with the rings and blessed the rings.
Mike placed the ring on my hand.
I branded Mike as a married man.
Randy finished the ceremony and we got to kiss.
Our rings.
It was not the event we had planned out and I didn't get to wear my gown, but I did marry the most wonderful man in the world, maybe even in the universe and I am looking forward to spending the rest of our lives together.
